This is probably one of the worst uses of my money in a very long time. 1. The Controls This is by far the worst aspect of the game. Either you cant spin the ball, or lob the ball, or actually HIT the ball. Size is the worst stat for a ping pong paddle. Each paddle should be the same size (AS BIG AS YOUR FINGER). Not with this game. Its fun to not to be able to hit the ball that your finger covered? Right? Also Im pretty sure theres a minuscule delay on the touch controls but IT DOESNT MATTER because that still ruins the game. A ping pong game would be much more successful if the reward was your increase in skill, but there is not skill involved as I will explain later. 2. Ads Ads in a $5 game? Im joking right? NO I AM CERTAINLY NOT! CHILLINGO WHAT IS THIS? WHY ARE THERE ADS FOR YOUR GAMES IN THE GAME I PAYED YOU $5 FOR? HAVENT YOU ALREADY EARNED ENOUGH MONEY? 3. Graphics They look nice I guess. Someone was talking about realistic graphics, but lets be honest, the only person who would rate this trash well is a dev. The cel shading is impressive for the iPhone but if youve ever played any game with them (PSST THE GAMECUBE RELEASED IN 2001) they arent that mind blowing. Also any surface that isnt a solid cover is a god awful texture, and its displayed right in front of your eyes (Dont believe me? Look at some of the ground and wall textures in the preview pictures.). On the contrary, I must compliment Chillingo on their understanding of the limitations of the platform, as just using plain colors and cel shading take advantage of the IPhones more limited graphical fidelity. 4. Other Stuff (that I didnt feel like putting into groups) The cool looking power ups where your ball does all the crazy stuff has practically no use, especially against the AI. OH YEAH THE AI. You need to progress through single player tournaments versus the AI to gain more paddles with better stats, but all the matches consist of: Swipe Swipe Attempt to lob Fat guy scores on you Rinse and repeat The game is so frustrating to play that its difficult to pick back up and try again because of this. The paddle system should be removed, and paddles should be merely aesthetic, as stats would not only serve as a percentage based increase (The size +2 paddle you get at the beginning has no discernible difference from the starter paddle) or just make the online mode extremely unfair. The reward for progress in this kind of game should be the increase in skill and knowledge of techniques in the player. Overall this adds up to the equivalent of a pretty background you can look at while youre getting your head kicked into the curb. Do not buy this game. Do not support game developers who release a subpar paid game with ads. We can stop this quality of game from being released if we just dont give in and buy games straight from the pretty pictures. My advice to Chillingo: -Lower the price. A LOT. Just because it looks good doesnt mean it should have a high price. -Make every surface just one color, it complements the cel shading. - Remove the ads. Seriously, there is no excuse for this in a $5 purchase. Ads are only acceptable in free games, where the developer needs an alternate source of income. - DONT put in IAPs in place of the ads. -Make power ups useful. -Make the different paddles purely aesthetic. As I said, the prize for progressing should be the players increase in skill and knowledge of techniques within the game. And with that I close my review of Chillingos Power Ping Pong, which I spent way too much time creating. I hope I saved you 5 dollars.

App has IAP

So disappointed. Game has IAP. A premium app thats tainted with IAP. Im so disappointed and Im requesting my money back.

Great but..

Needs an update that fixes the fact that when I hit the ball over the net and it bounces 2-3 times, the enemy can still hit it back. Not cool. Other than that it would get 5 stars.

Cant hit the ball

Area that registers ball smaller than finger so its hard to hit the ball. Camera perspective also changes too much.

Cant even hit the ball

It impossible to even hit the ping pong ball

So bad

Cant even hit the ball

You can hit the ball

So you can hit the ball. On the iPad with at least a Size+2 paddle. I first tried this on the iPhone 6, to much disappointment, the hit area is so small even with a better paddle. So in the hopes that I could ever play it I installed it on the iPad, which seems to be where it should be played. If you are looking for quick game bursts, dont buy this game, the transition screens take too long and are unskippable, by long I mean at most half a minute each, each level you need to beat 4 opponents, lose to one and you start from opponent 1. Very unsatisfying. To rematch any opponent would cost you 5 in-game currencies that you earn randomly across matches. If it isnt random, then that sure isnt obvious enough. You can earn more by playing a slot machine after every opponent. Yes a slot machine. From the start you are given 25 in-game currencies. If you want to progress in arcade mode you have to spend the currency, but to earn currency you have to progress in the game, or gamble in the slot machine. The problem should be obvious here. Every time either you or the opponent scores, two large scorecards cover the left and right of the screen and obstruct the view, you can continue while the overlays are there while obstructing the view and dont hide immediately nor fast enough when you continue the match. Good luck not accidentally triggering the opponents serve while these overlays are up. Now for the fun part. Say you spend 5 in-game currencies to rematch a levels boss, then decide to halt the game and continue later. You reopen the game, continue the match, beat the final boss, transition screen shows you beat him but it says you are now challenging opponent two of the same level. Yes it puts you back to the start of the level, even after beating the boss, even after spending currency on that rematch. It literally steals currency from you and sets you one step back. Quite lovely. "Well Id just stay away from the arcade mode." And play survival mode? Great, you only have to read at least two paragraphs of text to understand whats going on, and experience an end screen littered with so much noise its hard to grasp whats the goal here. TL;DR Bad response, bad UI, bad user experience, needs currency for rematches, need progress for currency, unsatisfying progression, broken rematch system, unintuitive survival mode.
